Lakers did a great job in the 2023 NBA playoffs. They made it all the way to the Western Conference Finals. Because they struggled throughout the season, this is a solid result. Their primary ambition, however, is to win a championship with LeBron James and Anthony Davis. They must make more moves to achieve their goal.
As per a new report by NBA insider Darren Wolfson, the Los Angeles Lakers are interested in getting a player named Jalen Suggs from the Orlando Magic. Right now, the Lakers have two guards who will soon be free agents, Dennis Schroder and D’Angelo Russell. So, they might be searching for someone to take their place.
Lakers interested in Jalen Suggs

“One of many storylines I’ll be following tonight: If Orlando goes guard at 6, do they then move former Minnehaha Academy standout, Jalen Suggs? Buzz is that the Lakers are one team with interest. Just turned 22, best ball ahead of him, already great defender,” Wolfson said.

The Orlando Magic chose Anthony Black as the 6th pick in the draft. He is a player who can play both guard positions. This might mean that Jalen Suggs, who is also a guard, could be traded to another team. The Magic already have many guards, including Cole Anthony and Markelle Fultz. In the last season, Jalen Suggs had an average of 9.9 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game for the Orlando Magic. He made 41.9% of his shots from the field and 32.7% from the three-point range. While he needs to improve his offense, his defense is very good. Maybe he could develop his skills further if he joins the Lakers.
The Purple and Gold interested in many top players
The Los Angeles Lakers have the resources to make a big trade, and it appears that they have several players in mind. All of their desired trade targets are players who can shoot well and create space on the court alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
“The framework of a deal would likely involve Beasley, Bamba, and the No. 17 pick getting exchanged for a starter-level player. The Lakers could also execute a smaller deal with only one of Beasley or Bamba, plus, potentially, the pick. Names around the league that have been linked to the Lakers in recent weeks include Indiana’s Myles Turner and Buddy Hield, Brooklyn’s Dorian Finney-Smith and Royce O’Neale, Toronto’s Gary Trent Jr. and [Washington’s Kristaps Porzingis — just traded], according to multiple league sources not authorized to speak publicly,” Jovan Buha said.
It will be fun to see what the Lakers do with the 17th overall choice this year. Because there are so many good players in this draft, they might be able to identify someone who can assist them win right away. If a team believes a player in that category is exceptionally talented, the Lakers may benefit.
