NBA News: Lakers Could Land Two Big Stars As Per Latest Rumors

Although the Los Angeles Lakers have improved over the last several games, many supporters still believe that the team’s present lineup is ineligible to contend for a title. The club managed to win a few games while LeBron James was injured, but they still lack the ability to challenge for more.

LeBron was recently seen liking a post that featured a poster by Myles Turner, who has long been associated with the Purple and Gold. However, the deal the Lakers might receive from the Indiana Pacers isn’t the one that’s currently being considered.

This year, the Lakers have more options to choose from, however, some believe that if Russell Westbrook continues to perform well off the bench, he won’t be moved.

Lakers could land Gordon Hayward and Mason Plumlee

According to Greg Swartz of Bleacher Report, the Lakers might trade two players who could be extremely valuable to the Charlotte Hornets for Russell Westbrook.

Charlotte Hornets Receive: PG Russell Westbrook, SG Max Christie, 2023 second-round pick

Los Angeles Lakers Receive: SF Gordon Hayward, C Mason Plumlee

“A 4-14 record should already have the Hornets thinking about next season. Finding ways to clear future cap space and get a better 2023 first-round pick is the best path forward at this point. Swapping Hayward’s contract for Westbrook’s expiring deal saves Charlotte nearly $30 million this summer, and moving Plumlee opens up more playing time for young centers like Mark Williams and Kai Jones. Christie, 19, is an interesting prospect as well. The Lakers pick up two starting-quality players without having to give up a future first-round pick. Hayward’s contract can be used this summer as an expiring trade chip to attach picks to if needed,” the report said.

Over the past year, the Lakers have been linked to a number of players, but it’s currently unknown whether they’ll ever make any of these moves. The 17-time NBA champions are aware that they must act quickly to make adjustments or risk losing the season. The majority of fans appear to favour a trade with the Indiana Pacers at this time, although working with the Charlotte Hornets doesn’t seem like a bad idea either.
