It is safe to say that Bennedict Mathurin, a rookie for the Indiana Pacers, exudes confidence. Just take a look at his comment regarding LeBron James, in which he essentially states that he wants to verify if the rumors surrounding the Los Angeles Lakers star are true.
Sixth overall pick in the 2022 draft Mathurin said he’s excited to play LeBron and the Lakers during the regular season. LeBron was also challenged by the youngster, who stated that the NBA legend must earn his respect.
Mathurin stated that he is interested in seeing how good LeBron James is. He said this before the 2022 NBA Draft, per Ben Golliver of the Washington Post.
Bennedict Mathurin looking forward to face LeBron James
“A lot of people say he’s great. I want to see how great he is. I don’t think anybody is better than me. He’s going to have to show me he’s better than me,” Mathurin said.
Those are some significant statements coming from a young player who was not even the top pick in his draft class and has not yet established himself in the NBA.

Bennedict Mathurin‘s confidence is admirable, but before he can take on LeBron James and the Lakers, he must first put in the effort and earn a starting spot with the Pacers.
It’s unlikely that James will make a big deal out of the young boy’s firm challenge. In addition, he really needs to do nothing to demonstrate his superiority to others. But it will be fascinating to see how he and Mathurin compare when they face off in the 2022–23 regular season.
Mathurin has the talent to excel in the NBA, and perhaps playing against LeBron will give him a better understanding of his capabilities.
