”I Want To Disappear” – Milwaukee Bucks Star Giannis Antetokounmpo Reveals His Retirement Plans

NBA

There is no denying that Giannis Antetokounmpo, one of the most well-known superstars in the NBA today, is a player who is dominant on both ends of the court. He is regarded as the league’s top player right now. For the Milwaukee Bucks during the previous season, Giannis Antetokounmpo averaged 29.9 PPG, 11.6 RPG, and 5.9 APG.

Giannis Antetokounmpo is without a doubt a well-liked athlete, but there are undoubtedly other players who are seen as more marketable and the “face of the NBA” than him.

Giannis Antetokounmpo on popularity

Giannis, who once said he doesn’t care about becoming the “face of the NBA,” seemed to not mind not being the most well-liked player in the league.

“I don’t care about being the face of the NBA. KD or Harden can be. I want to be with my kids and my family, I want to win and enjoy the game. I want to be Giannis the hard worker,” – Giannis said.

Giannis Antetokounmpo is obviously not interested in becoming famous; instead, he is more interested in succeeding. In fact, a recent statement seems to imply that he would be very content with not becoming well-liked in the future.

Wants to be like Tim Duncan

Some professional players choose to pursue other careers that keep them in the public eye after they retire from their sport, such as working as sports analysts on television. However, it appears that Giannis is not suited for that life.

Giannis Antetokounmpo recently declared during a SiriusXM NBA Radio broadcast that he wanted to “disappear” after his career in the NBA, much like Tim Duncan did.

“When I retire from this game I want to disappear. I want to go somewhere where they’re not going to know me… I want to be like Tim Duncan. Where the hell is Tim Duncan?!” – he said.

Without a doubt, Giannis Antetokounmpo’s sentiment is understandable. Popularity can often work against an athlete after their playing career because they are frequently surrounded by fans and media members even when performing everyday tasks like grocery shopping.

Before leaving the NBA and possibly fading from public view in the future, Giannis Antetokounmpo should ideally have a few more incredible years. We’ll see if Giannis Antetokounmpo can soon continue to rule the league since he is undoubtedly entertaining to watch.
