Becky Lynch won a major fight against Trish Stratus inside a steel cage at WWE Payback on September 2, and this fight marked the end of their six-month-long story. A famous WWE wrestler named Victoria revealed in a new podcast episode that Lynch sent her a private message on social media shortly after the match.
Victoria won against Lita in the first-ever women’s Steel Cage fight in WWE on November 24, 2003, during an episode of RAW. Fast forward 20 years, Stratus honored her friend by using her Widow’s Peak finishing move on Lynch at Payback.
Becky Lynch sends a message to Victoria

Stratus showed up on Victoria’s GAW TV program in the recent episode, along with Mickie James and SoCal Val. Victoria, who used to be Stratus’s wrestling opponent, shared that she was deeply moved and cried when she got a touching message from Lynch.
“Becky Lynch actually DM’d me, and she goes, ‘Thank you so much for being part of our match.’ Of course, another tear-jerker, too. Trish, just so freaking proud. It’s incredible to see you and Mickie just f***ing kicking a** still. People think you get too old to do it, and you guys are raising the bar as veterans, so I’m very proud of you guys,” she said.
James, who is 44 years old, and Stratus, who is 47, are thought of by many as two of the greatest superstars in WWE’s women’s division. A lot of fans believed that Stratus’s fight with Lynch could be a candidate for the best match of the year.
Victoria praised Lynch vs Stratus
In a surprising twist, Becky Lynch faced off against Trish Stratus as the first match at Payback, even though they weren’t part of the SummerSlam 2023 event. Their 20-minute match had many exciting moments, like the one where Stratus hung upside down from the top of the cage.
Victoria thinks that the way Lynch and Stratus’s story ended was just perfect, and it couldn’t have been improved in any way.
“The match was just perfection. It was freaking perfection. You know how it takes a lot for us to say, ‘That was a perfect match,’ but that was just goose-pimples. Not even as a girls’ match, it’s a freaking good match for anybody,” she said.
Lynch wasted no time following her fight with Stratus. On the September 12 episode of NXT, she defeated Tiffany Stratton to win the NXT Women’s Championship.
