Dominik Mysterio Admits He’s Avoiding WWE Superstar Due to Fear

Dominik Mysterio has mentioned the possibility of challenging Gunther for the WWE Intercontinental Championship. He also stated that he has been avoiding Gunther.

Since he started on WWE’s main roster last year, Gunther has been really important in the company. He won the Intercontinental Championship in June 2022 by beating Ricochet on SmackDown. He’s trying to have the longest time ever as champion, more than 430 days.

In an interview with Bakers Bantering, Dominik Mysterio said he really wants to be the Intercontinental Champion too. But he shared that there’s something holding him back from trying to get the title from Gunther.

“You know, I also wanna be the Intercontinental Champion. But I don’t wanna get chopped by Gunther yet. Or I don’t know if I ever wanna get chopped by Gunther. I got chopped by him one time, actually two times, at the Royal Rumble and I said, ‘No sir. No, thank you. I will not be coming back here again.’ It was not fun. But, I’ll tell you what, if for whatever strange reason, somehow some way I end up losing this bad boy [the North American Title], I might have to come after the IC Title,” he said.

Just a little while ago, Dominik Mysterio won the NXT North American Title by beating Wes Lee, and he got some help from The Judgment Day. Since then, he has defended his championship on NXT, Monday Night RAW, and SmackDown. He fought against different top wrestlers like Butch, Sami Zayn, Mustafa Ali, and even the old champion Wes Lee.

Dominik had to defend his title once more not long ago. On NXT, he defeated Dragon Lee. Then, last night, he and Rhea Ripley battled Dragon Lee and Lyra Valkyria at NXT Heatwave. They did not, however, prevail and were defeated in the match.
