“It’s an Insult” – WWE Veteran Gives His Verdict on Whether Roman Reigns Should Win an Emmy for His Acting
Jim Cornette has spoken out about whether Roman Reigns deserved an Emmy Award for his performance in The Bloodline storyline.
On WWE SmackDown last week, the show started with The Tribal Court. Roman Reigns, Paul Heyman, The Usos, and Solo Sikoa were involved in it. Reigns pretended to appoint Jey Uso as the new Tribal Chief but instead hit him below the belt. Then, Reigns and Sikoa attacked the former tag team champions which resulted in Jimmy being taken to the hospital.
Jim Cornette on Roman Reigns
In the most recent episode of the Jim Cornette Experience, the experienced wrestler discussed about the segment. He shared his thoughts on whether Roman Reigns deserves an Emmy award for his amazing acting.
“It’s an insult to what the wrestling business is supposed to be to award anyone publicly for their great acting. But at this point, since the WWE ain’t really the wrestling business anymore and the only interesting thing about it is Roman Reigns’ acting – can we come up with at least a category like ‘Best Acting in a Sports Presentation,’ I don’t know,” Cornette said.
“30 years ago the [Madison Square Garden] crowd would’ve set the seats on fire if they got the matches at a WWF show that they got on this program and they were happy to pay the highest prices in the history of the world to see it,” he added.
Will Jey Uso dethrone Reigns?
The match between the Tribal Chief and Jey Uso for the important title hasn’t been officially announced for SummerSlam, but it’s expected that the two wrestlers will face each other at the event. At the end of SmackDown last week, Jey issued a challenge to Roman Reigns while holding his championship.
The two stars have already faced off in a major championship match, so this will not be their first encounter. Reigns suffered his first pinfall in almost three years at Money in the Bank. It’ll be interesting to see whether Jey can beat him at SummerSlam again.
