“We’ve Been Gunning for These Titles” – SmackDown Superstars Want to Take WWE Tag Team Titles from Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens

Since WrestleMania 39, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn have been the top WWE Tag Team Champions. In a recent interview, The Street Profits stated that they want to win those titles.

Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford have won tag team championships in both NXT and the main roster in the past. But it’s been a long time since they last held the titles. They are currently considered one of the best tag teams in the company, and they believe they should have another chance at winning the championship. Unfortunately, their last attempt at the tag titles during SummerSlam last year was not successful.

In a recent interview with Bleacher Report, The Street Profits said that they admire Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens, but their goal is to beat them and become the new WWE Tag Team Champions.

“Much respect to Kevin and Sami. …They reached the peak and they’ve seen the happiness and the sunshine, but that sun, just like every sun, has to set eventually. And it’ll rise with a new contender, and that’s The Street Profits. It’s been a long time coming, we’ve been gunning for these [titles] for a very, very long time,” Monetz Ford said.

Montez Ford claims Angelo Dawkins never betrayed him

Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens have been friends and enemies for a long time. They only teamed up again when WrestleMania season started. They defeated The Usos at WrestleMania to become the new champions. Montez Ford said in the interview that, unlike the current champions, The Street Profits have never been friends before.

“We’ve actually been a tag team longer than Sami and Kevin, and we also have a history and a record of not turning on each other and then making up, and turning on each other, and making up. We don’t play the see-saw game, we focus on the task at hand. … I don’t like Dawkins and then hate him the next day. I don’t like Dawkins one day and then I wanna Stunner him the next day. Me and Dawkins never faced each other at WrestleMania. You see how inconsistent of a relationship that is?” Ford said.

The Street Profits had another backstage segment with Bobby Lashley on the most recent SmackDown program. It will be interesting to see what happens next.
